Case study / Canyon Pines
Canyon Pines 3D Map
Canyon Pines is a community of 93 homesites on the north slope of Coal Creek Canyon, in the foothills above Arvada, Colorado. Pine forest, rocky ridgelines, and more than 1,200 acres of open space all around, with views that reach from Boulder and Denver to Pikes Peak. The hard part was getting buyers to see it.
The challenge
Every lot at Canyon Pines is different. Some face the sunrise over the plains, others look into the canyon. They range from half an acre to almost four, on land that rises and falls with the ridgelines. That's what makes the place special, and it's exactly what a flat site plan can't show.
Buyers choosing a mountain homesite want to understand the slope, the view, and the drive to town before they make the trip. Many of them aren't nearby. The developer needed a way to put the whole mountainside in front of them, from anywhere, and make the next step easy.
What we built
A 3D map of Canyon Pines that runs in any web browser, built with three.js. Buyers can:
- Spin and tilt the terrain, with thousands of trees and every homesite marked on the land
- See which lots are available, with the address, acreage, and details for each
- Stand on any homesite with a 360-degree view
- Watch the views from each of the three areas: Great Plains, Coal Creek Canyon, and Meadow + Ridge
- Check drive times to 15 nearby places, from Boulder to Red Rocks
- Schedule a tour with the broker in one click

The result
The map has been the main way to explore the community on canyonpines.com since early 2023, and it's still in the site's top navigation. Lot details stay current, so a buyer in Denver, or across the country, can walk the land, narrow down favorites, and book a visit to the ones they love.
